Card of the Week- Darkrai EX

When Darkrai was released, it was good.
When Darkrai was at Spring Battle Roads, it was good.
When Darkrai was at Nationals, it was good.
When Darkrai was invading top 8 at worlds, it was good.
When Darkrai was suffering a format change, it was good.

Ever since Darkrai EX's release, it was a good card. Not good. Amazing. Darkrai was the BDIF during Spring Battle Roads, Nationals, and Worlds, and will likely remain 2 of the best 4 decks during Fall Battle Roads and Fall Regionals. Come again.

Stats

Darkrai EX's ability states that, if any of your Pokemon in play have Darkness energy attached to them they have free retreat. This ability combos well with cards like Terrakion and Mewtwo EX since both have a decent sized retreat. But sadly that was last format.
In THIS format however he is used in two ways. But that will have to get talked about in a different article. 
The best thing about Dark Cloak is that both Prism energy and Blend GRPD energy affect it.

For :DDC: you can deal 90 damage to the active, enough to 2HKO any EX in this format, along with 30 to 1 benched Pokemon. This can setup multiple knockouts on one turn such as KOing 2 Eelektrik in one turn with 90 to one and 30 to one that has 60 already on it! Main strategies that they use are Night Spear twice to KO an EX and do 60 additional damage to an Eel. Then they Catcher another Eel out and KO both. That's 4 Prizes in 3 turn of attacking! Combine this Amazing attacking power with Free retreat to anything with a dark on it combined with tools like Eviolite and Dark Claw. You have yourself a tier 1 attacker.
