Card of the Week- Raikou EX

Today will be my first COTW. In a COTW, I explain the card's qualities, the price, and the decks it could be used in. I also don't usually have an intro.

When this card was released, it was said to be good, after Battle Roads people thought it was bad and had no use in Eelektrik decks. Then at U.S. Nationals, a group of North Carolina players piloted it to an (almost) victory using heavy focus on the Raikou and Mewtwo.

Stats

For :LC: this attack does 30 damage and lets you flip a coin, if heads, the Defending Pokemon is Paralyzed. This can make for some useful stall techniques against the faster decks like Darkrai and CMT to buy time and setup easier knockouts against some unlikely Pokemon like Chandelure or Zekrom and Reshiram.

For :LLC: this attack forces you to discard all lightning energy attached to Raikou  to deal 100 damage to 1 of your opponent's Pokemon. This card was hyped to the sky because everybody thought all decks would result in an all out Raikou war. Whoever could snipe the opposing Eels first would win. Then people figured that Darkrai is better than Eels and gave up on it. Kevin Nance and others, however, used Raikou to snipe Smeargle and Shaymin to get easy prizes and used Max Potion to heal off any Bolt Strike or Night Spear Damage done to him. This created a great deck that brought these players to the top cut:

Phillip Mathews- Top 128

Zach Bivens- Top 64

Erik Nance- Top 32

Ashon Haswell- Top 8

Kevin Nance- Top 2

The Price

Troll and Toad: $15
Amazon: $15
Ebay: $13-$16

So as you can see this card is decently priced for a long term staple in Zeels and an extremely good attacker.

Decks

In this section I will list all the decks he can be used in and I will give it a rating on how efficient he is in the deck.

Raikou/ Eelektrik: 10/10 (He makes up half of the deck)
Zekrom/ Eelektrik: 8/10 (Great tech card)

So that's my first COTW and leave a comment telling me how it is.
